Victoria Hollis is a design researcher and visual artist located in San Francisco, California.
She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from University of California, Santa Cruz. Her research examined how personal informatics (i.e., self-tracking technologies) impact perceived emotional states and interplay of emotional reflection on goal-striving. Later work looked at how people choose to trust or distrust system analytics about their mood, especially when seemingly in conflict with initial beliefs. During the course of her Ph.D., she interned at Google conducting enterprise productivity research with the Hangouts Chat team and later studied the cost of context switches for software engineers as part of the Engineering Productivity Research team.
Currently, Victoria is a Senior Staff Researcher in the Adobe Design Research & Strategy team. Her research is focused on creative software support for personal and professional passions. She is the lead design researcher for Firefly Boards, the first product in a new Adobe category to support creative ideation with generative AI.
Separately, she is a costume and installation artist. Her work has been displayed at the Bay Area Maker Faire, Burning Man, Santa Cruz GLOW, and local SF galleries.
